I was working for a commercial consultancy and it was very much a start-up at that time so it was just myself and two other team members . My role is the team lead was partly business development as well as delivery because it’s such a small team. Many hats I did is protect my business development time because we need to win work if the other team members were to have work today. . Absolutely brilliant contract for an ESG . One was a chemical engineer and the other was an environmentalist. We had received a request to complete an ESG for client and as part of the project plan I provide training for the environmentalist in Completing ESG’s. So we took on the work arranged obviously a delivery date accepted the proposal and everything was looking great and then my environmentalist handed in his notice. But we still had to deliver. So deed was responsibility I asked Josh to complete templates based on his college course and his knowledge so he had notice so he completed these templates that way everything I needed from his mind was he left all of his college notes of his notes and use the templates to work with the client to directly import The information needed to deliver the project successfully .
What do you do when a team member doesn't complete their share of the work?
I was managing a team which had grown into 10 people and it was a 100% remote work. There were no physical offices. Everybody was working from home. Everybody was on teams and we were very spread throughout the UK actually also sometimes internationally .
The newest Service I haven’t developed an implemented before I left my last role by this time I had 10 team member and I started to develop by diversity services.
To deliver that I had taken on two people who were biologists and ecologist to deliver the work. When was in Scotland when was in Wales. But I was quite experienced to a remote team by then one of my team spent three months of the year in Vietnam . It worked very well . Naturally Naturally, I gave them smart tasks. Which are designed to objective. And I also gave my number one porters. Aaron is the first person who joined the team after me first person recruited with me. I gave him him line management responsibility for another ecologist so I had one and he had one. Part development for him and part delegation part responsibility of the team. The first task needed was launched biodiversity. We needed marketing material needed to content and copy which was the knowledge in their mind. I’ve been hired for so that could go to the marketing team and they could make the actual marketing material but we needed the importance of diversity methods of diversity, diversity is measured. What would it look like to our client? We needed to explain to our clients what they getting? Why would they buy Service from us? And what would it look like? And how much time would it take if they were to invest in services in buying that gate , two people were given the tasks to complete this information and provide it to marketing . And they had separate me so I had visibility visibility of individuals transpired. I had just plagiarised work of my report so my report done all the work and his basically did. This is one of those times bye-bye working as a 100% remotely. So I was in together into a team meeting with me and Aaron and my report and his report. That way, we could look at their smart objectives and workloads together As well as a rating schedule which allowed those two team members to be on time at the same time as one. Collaboration collaboration has always been the reason it works so well up until that point we all worked as one team. And that was the point which had fractured into two teams and the two teams weren’t working as well as working as one but also I think the team may be the lack of comfort and a self. More of a intervention I’d oversee it was Bigg all the material online. We all came into one teams meeting for marketing to launch at scientist marketing PR sales people everybody had Bigg launch for diversity services. We had interactive webinars from the biologist and we also had a person get together so that you can get to know one of his people better brought everybody down to Leeds and small room in a really lovely hotel and a short walk from the train station so we can all go by train travel but it was a small room, so it wasn’t expensive . 13. Much more cohesive and the launch was an incredible success.
