Suicide prevention

A boy who was being bullied at school was walking home one day. He was carrying his books in his arms. And some of his classmates came along and knocked the books from his hands. The books spilled onto the street. The boys ran off laughing. Another boy from his class helped him pick up his books, handed them back to him and gave him a supportive smile.

Upon graduation, the bullied boy gave us speech. He spoke of a time that he had been suicidal. He was intend on killing himself after school that day So sure was he of his intentions that declared out his lock around was carrying all of his books home in his arms. When the bullies dropped the books out of his arms and someone came by helped him and gave him a supportive smile. At that moment he realised that the wall was good in the world. And that small act of support Saved his life.

A few years ago, I tracked down an old university friend. Someone I have not seen in years as we left university at a time before email and Internet no Facebook no Twitter no Instagram no LinkedIn. So we had lost touch once we had moved away. Recently I’ve realised that I was particularly fond of her and tractor to Hammond connected with her again on social media. Just yesterday as I was finding it difficult to complete a challenge, I had set myself to raise money and awareness for a charity important to me. This long lost friend unexpectedly sponsored me with a donation that took me to my target. And that same day I completed my challenge Boyard on by her support. She can’t have known that when she sponsored me a small amount of money it would make all the difference.

Make a small difference in someone’s life. It may have a much much more profound effect than you believe.
