Saf aviation riat

HTL is different to PTL or BTL VIA FISHER TROPSCH. What a day for sustainable aviation enthusiasts. It was quite a day for acronyms too. RIAT opened yesterday. Cranfield University are exhibiting  Boeing and Clear Sky announced an agreement with firefly Who transform sewage sludge feed into SAF through hydrothermal liquefication (HTL). The Airbus XLR flew fuelled with 30% SAF wonderful week.  Cran Boeing XLR SAF Just as Fairford Basho closes and Rea gets going. This week, Boeing and clear sky fund have launched the partnership to decarbonise aviation. The first agreement is with firefly made an agreement with firefly, Who transform sewage sludge feed into SAF through hydrothermal liquefication (HTL). Royal International air Tattoo RIAT 2024 HTL is one of the family of feed Stock to liquid Sustainable aviation fuels.

Predictive maintenance

Confessions of a process engineer. Moving pumping station maintenance to digitalisation With lean, identify wasted steps these are parts of the process that are not valued by the end customer. For example with sewage pumping stations a maintenance technician might drive out to the pumping station to inspect the pumping station and find that no repairs are needed. No maintenance is required. They might drive out two or three times. One of those occasions maintenance intervention is needed and the work completed. The end customer only values that the pumping station continues to work and has never broken down. To them 2 out of 3 of those visits are wasted steps. Replacing physical site physics physics with remote monitoring and an algorithm that recognises when a maintenance intervention is necessary and raises a job for the technicians to drive out Remove the wasted steps. And that is lean. He’s nitty-gritty. Collected data from a wide range of sources. I collected the telemetry da...

Medical writer career

I have used my scientific writing skills throughout my career.  My first degree is in life sciences. Specifically I have a 2:1 (Hons) BSc in Biological and Biochemical Sciences. I excelled in botany, maths, statistics, expérimental design, environmental protection and microbiology. I wrote My field study in maritime biology and wrote My final year dissertation in agricultural. Pathology.  Before university my work experience was assisting at a veterinary practice and working as a financial trade clerk. I supported myself through university as an office clerk and typist in various industries. My first job after university was medical secretary, providing administrative support for the psychiatric team at Fairfield Hospital; I wrote reports on psychiatric diagnoses, patient treatment plans, psychological theory and took minutes of patient welfare meetings. I learned a great deal about symptoms, diagnosis, further medical terminology and medical team dynamics. Later in Innovation...

Description

Sarah sat on her sofa with her legs over the arm she could hear the home of traffic in the distance and taste breakfast on her teeth. There is feet ached and  burned As though she had just completed along distant run. But sarah had done nothing of the sort. Still, she would have to get up from this old warm musty sofa and take her feet up the stairs so that she could clean her teeth and remove the taste of breakfast.

Sorting out this mess

There are other options to for lower carbon aviation, including hydrogen and electric propulsion. Saf is technology ready and can be used in the car aircraft and refuel and fuel infrastructure

Post Wednesday 17th

This month marks 110 years since the official opening of the Wilhelm et cetera where the Fisher Trops synthesis / process was developed and patented. This method for synthesising Liquid hydrocarbons From carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas Has served whenever an alternative to oil has been necessary/wanted/desired/needed. Developed in Germany at a time when self sufficiency in raw materials was a necessity, and commercially important in South Africa when trade sanctions required it. Forced, compelled, demanded. Both countries were coal rich and oil poor but needed fuel for energy and transport. A need for Energy and transport continues/ transpires/ prevails remains today. And the climate crisis obliges us to consider synthetic feels as an alternative to oil again further more more over even more. With greater emphasis. Today, alternative carbon feed stocks, are proven. Used cooking oils and animal fats are converted into hydrocarbon for synthetic fuels including sustainable aviation field...

Decarbonising aviation

Image
Flying horses Acid rain, the ozone layer and manure in 1894, The Times newspaper predicted… “In 50 years, every street in London will be buried under nine feet of manure.” 9 feet is 2.7 m, 1 m taller than the average height of a man at that time. Of course, horse drawn carriages were soon replaced with the car. The great horse manure crisis never occurred. It is currently predicted that the aviation industry will contribute 22% of the worlds greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This too may be averted. From gasoline to Grassoline  Currently, aircraft are powered by fossil fuels. The sustainable aviation fuel it’s almost negligible at 0.53%. Forward thinkingairline wizz announces a £5 million investment in a biofuel company,  Firefly . This is Wizz Air’s first equity investment in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) research and development. The partnership with Firefly will allow the airline to supply SAF to its UK operations from 2028, up to 525,000 tonnes over 15 years. The agreeme...

Refuel regs

Boosting SAF uptake in air transport As part of the ‘ Fit for 55 ’ package, the Commission proposed to boost the uptake of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) in air transport. SAF have a significant role to play in the decarbonisation of the sector, but currently their share in EU aviation is negligible. At 0.53% To meet carbon reduction targets by 2050 accelerating SAF development and use is the best option to decarbonise aviation. The refuel regulations for the EU. Up till now, refiners have successfully used used cooking oils and animal fats to make bio saf. The feed stock for BSF of used cooking oil affect is limited in his availability. To continue to meet demand for sustainable aviation fuel suppliers must use more challenging feed stocks by residues or renewable green hydrogen with CO2 for the carbon.  We have signed up to take the sewage for fuel from Greenfly. Where will the rest come from? One answer could be power to liquid where renewable power is used to create gr...

Grassoline for frequent fryers

In 2024, SAF production is likely to meet just 0.53% of the demand for aviation fuel. (Air bp) Crucially, although global SAF production is expected to further triple to 1.85bn litres in 2024 (0.53% of aviation fuel’s estimated requirement), IATA adds that approximately 85% of SAF facilities coming online over the next five years will utilise HEFA technology: relying on already-limited supplies of animal fats, industrial grease and used cooking oil. Although funding to certify or scale SAF production using a myriad of other feedstocks – including agricultural residues, ethanol, municipal waste and even used tyres – is ongoing worldwide, the prevalent preference for HEFA does pose a question. With used cooking oil synonymous with fried food, just how many chips would we need to eat to feed our appetite for sustainable aviation fuel? Turning chip oil into fuel is, after all, nothing new: in 2018, McDonalds alone estimated it collected approximately 618,000 litres of used oil from 1...

BTL biomass to liquid

What is BTL? Biomass to liquid is a thermochemical route to make synthetic hydrocarbon fuel. How does BTL differ from bio diesel or bioethanol? bio diesel And bioethanol production uses parts of plants such as oil, sugar, starch, or cellulose. BTL production uses entire plants or a carbonaceous material. What process are used for BTL? Fisher Tropsch Fisher Tropsch Polymerises gaseous Carbon and hydrogen into hydrocarbon liquid. The input is a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen called syngas. In BTL The syngas Is made By the gasification Of the biomass. The Fisher Tropsch product of polymerised syngas is a hydrocarbon for fuel. Flash pyrolysis Flash pyrolysis Produces bio oil, char and gas. Temperatures of 350 to 550°C are used for minuscule residence times of less than a second. It is the residence time that gives this kind of pyrolysis it’s name. Alternatively, it is also known as anhydrous pyrolysis. Catalytic fast pyrolysis Catalytic fast pyrolysis is a fast process Cellos is b...

Wire refiner needs E

Decarbonisation of aviation is a growing imperative. Owing to customer demand and emerging regulation. Many carbon reduction initiatives have already been implemented by the aviation industry. Aviation fuel remains the largest source of aviation greenhouse gas emissions. Decarbonisation of aviation fuel is integral to decarbonisation. Sustainable aviation fuel SAF hydrogen and electric propulsion all been implemented with varying limitations. Hydrogen… Electric proportion… SAA is limited by Feed stock availability. Sustainable aviation fuel bracket SAF bracket created via up halfway from waste oil and facts.
